Adam's Last Birthday Before the Babe!

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

I can't believe Adam is 27! We were watching a crime show the other night and it said the suspect was in their late 20s to early 30s. I looked at Adam and said "that could literally be you!" It's also hard to believe this is the tenth birthday we've spent together! (We celebrated our tenth dating anniversary on March 12. And by celebrated, I mean I put a picture on Instagram.) We've come a long way since that first family dinner at Maggiano's. I remember I was so nervous I didn't even eat any of the bread because I was scared I would make a mess!

My week of cooking continued with fondue on Wednesday night and then we tag teamed some homemade Fettucine Alfredo on Thursday for his birthday. The last time Adam made pasta, it somehow all slipped off my plate and onto the floor. Needless to say, this time Adam gave me the hardest time about holding my plate at an even angle, blah, blah, blah. You can imagine my pure JOY when his entire plate of pasta went sliding into the Alfredo sauce as he was dishing up. Perfect.

Fondue party!

I know I'm not about to make a shocking statement when I say it's hard to cook for two. Especially when one of you (cough-me) gets a bit repulsed by leftovers these days. I only made three actual meals this week, and it felt like we had enough to feed the Duggars. Thankfully, Adam demolished all of our leftovers over the course of the week and weekend, so I didn't feel wasteful!

Speaking of the weekend, we had quite an eventful one! Our crib was delivered on Friday evening, and after bringing in just about all the pieces I happened to look out the window and see one of the guys jump off the truck with the final piece… and it went flying into the street. Cool. Needless to say, they have to completely reorder the crib and come back another day. Good thing we're not in any rush!

We headed our separate ways on Saturday morning. Adam attended a LEAD baseball game - it's a baseball league for inner city kids and he feels called to work with a group like that. So glad he was able to get the ball rolling (pun intended) and check out one of their games!

Meanwhile, I headed out to celebrate Allison's Baby Sprinkle. She's expecting sweet Genevieve to arrive on May 6, so needless to say she and our babe are destined to be great friends!

We all wrote a note to Genevieve for her to read on her 16th birthday.

Still dreaming over this cake. SO DELICIOUS.

Adorable Champagne bar! I helped myself to basically an entire bottle of pink lemonade.

I had to dip out of the shower a little early, because it was time to get spruced up for Jillian's wedding! The afternoon ceremony was held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by a break before the reception at the Atlanta History Center. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day, so we grabbed a cocktail (mocktail for me!) at the St. Regis Bar during the break. Turns out Ben Affleck was actually there at the same time! Jillian's brother and nephew rode in the elevator with him, and apparently he was very friendly. SO JEALOUS!!

We made our way over to the History Center for cocktail hour outside (again, perfect weather for it!) before moving inside for the party. We all had such a great time celebrating Jillian and Austin, and it was a fun little Pebblebrook reunion for me!

And the weekend didn't even stop there! We still had Adam and Nathan's birthday celebration at the Baker's on Sunday night. Grilled pizza and Guiness cake. YUM.

What a fun week and weekend of celebrations!

march shenanigans

Friday, March 21, 2014

Shenanigans is an Irish word, right? That would mean it makes sense to pair with March, right? Maybe I'm just thinking of the restaurant from Waiting. Moving right along...

Adam had to work this weekend, so we didn't think we'd get to go all out for St. Patty's day this year. Think again! Kelly and Jason saved the day with fun plans.

I headed down to their condo on Saturday morning to watch the St. Patty's Day parade with the crew. We had an amazing view of the parade from their balcony, but decided to head down to the street to really experience the action. Not before a couple of Irish Car Bombs, though!

We didn't make it down in time for the Budweiser Clydesdales, but I did get to see them from the balcony!

Are llamas Irish? Who cares - they're in little green hats!

Scottie came to play! (And check out my hair - so short! I love it. Back to me.)

Adam got off work at 8, so I crashed the Coopers' condo for a solid 9 hours before he arrived. (Thanks for the hospitality! I think I owe you a handle or two of vodka.) Once he changed into his favorite St. Patty's shirt, we walked down the street to Front Page News.

Happy St. Practice Day! We love the Coopers!

Adam had to go back to work on Sunday, so I spent the day hanging out with the pups. The best and worst part about having two dogs is that they play outside together all day. Even when it's gross and rainy. Case in point... look at Hank. They both got very intense baths that day.

Speaking of Hankee Doodle... he is the sweetest, cuddliest (is that a word?) little nugget. I just want to eat him up. (And we still love Ruthie a lot, a lot! She's just not quite a cuddler.)

I don't know if you can really tell in this picture, but look at how Hank is sleeping. He's such a little weirdo.

We celebrated Adam's birthday with the Bakers on Tuesday night. Haven't seen that clan in awhile, so it was fun (as always!) to catch up. Shocker - Debbie made a delicious dessert.

Our annual chef photo shoot landed on Adam's birthday, so I spent the morning with some really awesome chefs and some of the kids at Genesis Shelter who directly benefit from our event. Twist my arm!

On his birthday, Adam decided he wanted to make dinner - homemade pasta and sauce. Yes, please! He finally got the portions right and it was just enough for the two of us and not a third world country. Of course, the one time we don't have much extra, after serving myself I went to throw something away and it all went sliding off my plate. OF COURSE. I'm so proud of myself for not crying and not figuring out a way to blame Adam. He was generous enough to give me a little of his, and there was still a little in the strainer. Crisis averted! It was a great night with great food celebrating the greatest person, ever. Happy birthday, handsome!

While I got him a few little trinkets, his big present was a baseball signed by Bobby Cox. When he read it and figured out who it was, he freaked. Our friend's parents just moved in next door to Bobby Cox at Amelia Island and asked him to do this. Could they be any sweeter? Thank you, Bambroughs!

And with that, this post is over.

The Big 2-4

Monday, March 26, 2012

So this is late. Adam's birthday was last Monday!! The big 2-4....or as I like to say, officially in his mid 20s. Last Sunday, we celebrated at his family's house - Adam and Nathan share the same birthday, so we killed two birds with one stone.

I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't cook, but for some reason I always decide to make the hardest things for Adam. (You may recall the eggs benedict I made him for our anniversary?) So for his birthday I decided to make cheese fondue! We got a fondue maker (which I later found out was just a small bowl to hold the fondue) for our wedding, but have never used it. I got kind of creative when it came to what we were going to dip... zucchini, jalapenos, four cheese ravioli, bread, brats, tater tots and pizza rolls. SO delicious and SO unhealthy - our favorite. :)

Since his mom had made him a delish red velvet cake, he decided he only wanted a cookie cake from me. This actually turned out to be the best thing ever since I was still cooking the fondue/sweating profusely when Adam got home from practice. I never would have had time to make a cake!

The day also happened to be the best day EVER since he found out he got the supply teaching job at Lassiter!!!!!!!! Talk about the best birthday!!

We decided to celebrate his birthday this past weekend so our friends could join us. Adam's favorite day is St. Patty's Day, and since he couldn't come celebrate with us in Savannah I found a fun Irish bar called Johnnie MacCracken's for us to go to on Saturday night. It was such a super fun night, and we were so glad our friends were able to make it! Somehow I didn't snap one picture of Adam that night, but it's probably because he was too busy running around like a crazy person with Kirklan, his friend from school who came down to celebrate.

But here are some other shots from the night...

Such a fun night with some of our favorite people!!

SIDE NOTE: Saturday also happened to be Mitchell's prom, so of course Adam and I had to crash the picture party. He looked so handsome!
