Adam's Last Birthday Before the Babe!

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

I can't believe Adam is 27! We were watching a crime show the other night and it said the suspect was in their late 20s to early 30s. I looked at Adam and said "that could literally be you!" It's also hard to believe this is the tenth birthday we've spent together! (We celebrated our tenth dating anniversary on March 12. And by celebrated, I mean I put a picture on Instagram.) We've come a long way since that first family dinner at Maggiano's. I remember I was so nervous I didn't even eat any of the bread because I was scared I would make a mess!

My week of cooking continued with fondue on Wednesday night and then we tag teamed some homemade Fettucine Alfredo on Thursday for his birthday. The last time Adam made pasta, it somehow all slipped off my plate and onto the floor. Needless to say, this time Adam gave me the hardest time about holding my plate at an even angle, blah, blah, blah. You can imagine my pure JOY when his entire plate of pasta went sliding into the Alfredo sauce as he was dishing up. Perfect.

Fondue party!

I know I'm not about to make a shocking statement when I say it's hard to cook for two. Especially when one of you (cough-me) gets a bit repulsed by leftovers these days. I only made three actual meals this week, and it felt like we had enough to feed the Duggars. Thankfully, Adam demolished all of our leftovers over the course of the week and weekend, so I didn't feel wasteful!

Speaking of the weekend, we had quite an eventful one! Our crib was delivered on Friday evening, and after bringing in just about all the pieces I happened to look out the window and see one of the guys jump off the truck with the final piece… and it went flying into the street. Cool. Needless to say, they have to completely reorder the crib and come back another day. Good thing we're not in any rush!

We headed our separate ways on Saturday morning. Adam attended a LEAD baseball game - it's a baseball league for inner city kids and he feels called to work with a group like that. So glad he was able to get the ball rolling (pun intended) and check out one of their games!

Meanwhile, I headed out to celebrate Allison's Baby Sprinkle. She's expecting sweet Genevieve to arrive on May 6, so needless to say she and our babe are destined to be great friends!

We all wrote a note to Genevieve for her to read on her 16th birthday.

Still dreaming over this cake. SO DELICIOUS.

Adorable Champagne bar! I helped myself to basically an entire bottle of pink lemonade.

I had to dip out of the shower a little early, because it was time to get spruced up for Jillian's wedding! The afternoon ceremony was held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by a break before the reception at the Atlanta History Center. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day, so we grabbed a cocktail (mocktail for me!) at the St. Regis Bar during the break. Turns out Ben Affleck was actually there at the same time! Jillian's brother and nephew rode in the elevator with him, and apparently he was very friendly. SO JEALOUS!!

We made our way over to the History Center for cocktail hour outside (again, perfect weather for it!) before moving inside for the party. We all had such a great time celebrating Jillian and Austin, and it was a fun little Pebblebrook reunion for me!

And the weekend didn't even stop there! We still had Adam and Nathan's birthday celebration at the Baker's on Sunday night. Grilled pizza and Guiness cake. YUM.

What a fun week and weekend of celebrations!
