Jude's First Sleepover

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

At Meagan and Nathan's final baby shower on August 31, 2014, I vividly remember them telling us about a wedding they had to go to on June 27, 2015. Adam and I immediately "shotgunned" it, and put it on the calendar. Fast forward to June 26, 2015 (ok, so we took him a day early) - and our big night of nephew-sitting was upon us!

Let's walk through our first baby sleepover, shall we? (I thought I took so many pictures, but now that I'm walking through it in my head, I totally didn't.)

First, we crawl all over the place, play with toys and have very loud conversations that adults don't understand. Then, we eat dinner! Lucky for everyone involved,  Judey Booty eats real people food - so he got to partake in Chicken and Broccoli Casserole.

We make sure to wash our hands after we play with the dogs. (We don't know how to wash baby hands, so he basically got drenched.)

Only the fanciest water for our nephew. (Also, he won't drink out of a sippy cup, so it's kind of hilarious to watch him try to drink anything other than his bottle.)

Around 8:30pm we drink our bottle, decide not to cooperate during a short-lived story time and then immediately pass out in our cousin's Pack n Play. (Adam got to set up sweet girl's new Pack N Play for him to sleep in. So fun!!)

At 9:30pm, nervous Aunt Lizzie checks to make sure the little one still breathing. (This is normal, right?)

Fast forward to 8:30am (yes, 12 hours later), and the little monster finally decides to wake up. Aunt Lizzie's been not so patiently waiting to play for at least 45 minutes.

We decide to drink our bottle and lounge in Aunt Lizzie & Uncle Adam's bed, because we're basically on vacation.

Ok, bottle party is over. We're ready for real food! Uncle Adam runs to the store to grab a few ingredients for pancakes. PANCAKES!

The best helper.

"I don't know why Uncle Adam won't let me play with the stove! I thought he was the Cool Uncle??"

"Ok, he is the cool uncle. He made Star Wars pancakes!"

Eeeeek! He was so much fun, and I'd totally be down for weekly sleepover parties! I mean, twelve hour stretches of sleep? This parenting thing is going to be so easy! (Hahahahaha)

A huge thank you to Meagan and Nathan for trusting us with your sweet boy! After all, you only had ten months to get used to the idea. :)

Meet Me in St. Louis!

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

How's that for a creative blog title?! Except not really. Except kind of, because we really did go to St. Louis this weekend! This weekend had been on the calendar for quite some time, and Adam and I were excited to see all of his family and to celebrate baby girl!

I arrived Thursday afternoon, and after a dinner of Imo's Pizza we all just kind of lounged around until bedtime. On Friday, we all headed to the mall to meet up with Amy, Erica and their kiddos. With Jude, Isaac, Colin and Graham the adults were almost outnumbered! Next time we visit, there will be a little girl in tow, too. :)

And I guess this is the only picture I got of the mall? Hi, Colin! (He's hilarious and a genius, by the way.)

Friday night, all of us "semi-adults" headed out for dinner at Rigazzi's on the Hill while the "real adults" watched the little ones. It was so fun to spend time with Amy and Erica! Whenever we're together it's typically at some function, so I rarely get to just hang out with them. We headed to Ted Drewe's after dinner, because it's kind of an unspoken rule that you have to eat as much Ted Drewe's as possible when in St. Louis. Brownie Hot Fudge concrete for me, please! Thank you for the rec, Tim!

Kelsey and I headed off to the airport after our concrete coma to pick up Adam! AND SHE FELT BABY GIRL KICK!!! I was so proud of her for finally showing off for her Aunt Kelsey! She then proceeded to kick Aunt Meagan on Saturday night, and got the hiccups for Grandma on Sunday morning. Yay, baby girl!

Saturday morning, Adam and I both woke up super early so we decided to go for a walk before it got too hot. (Seriously, we went on a walk at 6:30am on a Saturday. Who are we?) Once everyone else woke up and we ate a yummy breakfast, Adam and I accidentally took a 3 hour nap. Whoops!

That evening was our Baby Shower, and Adam and I hung back with Jude and Nathan while everyone else decorated.

Look at my little Jude Dude! He is so stinkin' adorable and fun (even when he's just woken up from a long nap.)

We love each other.

So glad Adam got to partake in one of the showers! He's just as much a part of this whole baby thing as me, after all!

Love this pic! All the girls and their babes. (Yes, the boys are matching. And yes, baby girl will be the first girl!)

I'm so glad we were able to spend some quality time with Adam's family and friends at the shower. We are so lucky to have our baby girl loved by so many!

After church on Sunday, we decided to go to Grant's Farm before Adam and I had to head to the airport.

I can't stop staring at this picture - it is just too, too cute! Love these boys.

We came to Grant's Farm when we were in town for Amy and David's wedding back in 2010, and one of these little baby goats tried to eat my ponytail! You can pay $1 to feed them a bottle, but they were all pretty full. Look, Kelsey made it out alive without being eaten.

Bahahahah. Adam and a camel both smiling for the picture.

Grant's Farm was actually the original home/land of the Anheuser-Busch family, and it's where the Budweiser Clydesdales live! Those bad boys are huge

After a day at the farm, it was time for us to head home (smelling like a farm  - sorry, other passengers.)

And since we're such grownups, Adam met me for lunch at Flip Burger yesterday. Yep, we met for lunch on a workday. Such adults!

29 - 32 Weeks

Week 29: June 2

Baby's the size of an: Acorn squash and her kicks are getting stronger thanks to her growing fat deposits (more energy!).

Weight gain since last appointment: 4 pounds (Total: 20 pounds)

Baby's heart rate: 150s

Sleep: It's been pretty good! I'm used to the tossing and turning at this point, and I only get up once to pee.

Best moment of this week: Can I have two? I had my first baby shower and she got the hiccups! I thought I felt them a couple times before, but it was very noticeable when she actually got them. My whole belly shakes and they last for a couple minutes. It's kind of adorable to think of her in there hiccuping.

Miss anything: We went to an air show on Saturday for Jason's birthday, and they were drinking sangria slushies. That certainly looked refreshing!

Food cravings: Still loving sweets, but nothing too specific.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Adam's gross dirty dishes.

Symptoms: Just in the past couple days her kicks have gotten really strong! Earlier today I had the computer on my belly and she kicked so hard it moved the computer. It's been fun to see her move from the outside every once in a while. I haven't had any more episodes of a sore back or neck, which is promising.

Looking forward to: Getting things organized! Not just her nursery, this whole house. Ay yi yi.

Week 30: June 9

Baby's the size of a: Butternut squash and will be gaining about a half pound per week from here on out!

Sleep: Pretty good!

Best moment of this week: 30 Weeks - we're in the home stretch! (How many times can I say home stretch? Unlimited? Good.)

Miss anything: Nope.

Food cravings: Nothing in particular this week.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Symptoms: Her kicks are getting stronger, which is fun!

Looking forward to: Getting her nursery all set! My showers have been so fun, and now I'm just anxious to put everything in its place. (And to just finish the nursery, altogether.)

Week 31: June 16

Baby's the size of a: Coconut and all of her senses are fully developed!

Weight gain since last appointment: 1 pound (Total: 21 pounds)

Baby's heart rate: 130

Sleep: Still pretty decent.

Best moment of this week: Home girl wasn't moving much yesterday, but then got super active at night. At each doctor appointment they're very interested in baby's movement, because any decrease could mean a potential problem. I mentioned the above just to let them know and the doctor said since I was already in the office she'd like to go ahead and do an ultrasound just to make sure everything looked ok (her fluids, growth, etc.). I'M OK WITH THAT! So I got to see our sweet girl again! Everything looked great and she was moving and grooving. She's currently head down and laying on my right side - and is already 3lbs 15oz! (The weight measurements can be pretty off, so I took it with a grain of salt.) I got to see the front of her face and even saw her eyes and mouth moving - and she blinked a few times. It was pretty crazy to see! And she's so big! It was hard to really see what the tech was looking at/measuring because she takes up the whole screen! We're so thrilled that she continues to grow on track (I'm currently measuring 3 days early - which, again, doesn't mean much) and healthy! Two more months, sweet girl!!

This is looking into her face. You can see one of her eyes toward the top right of the picture, and her other eye is kind of in the shadow. The weird jellyfish looking thing is her umbilical cord. Such a cutie!!

Miss anything: Nothing in particular this week.

Food cravings: I'm pretty sure I've had enough chocolate in the past few days to last the rest of the pregnancy. Between cake, cupcakes, cookies… yikes! (But so good.)

Symptoms: Oof, I had my first terrible experience with heartburn this week. Apparently baby girl isn't a fan of movie theatre popcorn. It HURT.

Looking forward to: St. Louis with Adam's family this weekend! I'm hoping they upgrade me to first class when they see my belly. :)

Week 32: June 23

Baby's the size of a: Head of lettuce and about 4 pounds! From here on out she's basically just putting on weight and practicing for life outside her waterbed - breathing, sucking, swallowing, kicking, etc.

Sleep: I can't complain!

Best moment of this week: Spending time with family in St. Louis! Also, she finally let someone other than me and Adam feel her! Aunt Kelsey was the first one to feel her kick, followed by Aunt Meagan the next night, and Grandma got to feel her hiccups the next morning! It was kind of hilarious because everyone was crowding around my tummy trying to get her to kick on Saturday night, but she was being super stubborn. So of course that was the first night she woke me up from kicking so hard. Guess she was saving all her kicks up for me.

Miss anything: Nope.

Food cravings: Still throwing back those sweets like it's nobody's business. I was especially fond of the cookie cake at our shower on Saturday. Yummmm.

Symptoms: It's pretty obvious she's running out of room in there. Her movements have gone from sharp karate kicks to bigger jabs, and I can feel just about any movement she makes (adjusting, rolling, etc.). I think I've had a few Braxton Hicks contractions, but not sure.

Looking forward to: Soaking in these last weeks before she gets here!

More Baby Prep (Shocking!)…And Other Things

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

If we keep up our current pace, and our baby girl is going to be here before we know it! We actually went through all the remaining weeks, and we're busy all the way up to August from here on out. Crazy!

We had a family fun day at the tennis courts last week - as my dad and Adam were randomly selected to play each other in tennis. It was a fun game to watch, and Adam came out victorious!

I made them pose with Perrier, of course. They're basically part of the French Open!

Adam and I had been counting down to Thursday for weeks. We had tickets to the opening of Jurassic World! We bought the tickets back in April or May, and were so excited. Even with my expectations so high, I was not disappointed! Three cheers for the Raptor Gang and Chris Pratt!

Adam's a big fan of soccer when it's conveniently on. (Which means he only watches the World Cup.) Lucky for us, we're in the middle of the Women's World Cup! Doug and Aimee joined us at Elbow Room on Friday to watch the US tie Sweden (I think…).

We "tried" to get stuff done in the nursery on Saturday, but ended up just sitting in there and making Hank try on her tutu. We could not stop laughing.

Then I decided to do story time with the dogs. Look how excited they are! (Yes, that's Hank trying to escape by crawling under the crib.)

We also put up the book shelves, and I love the way they came out! I think we're going to do frames/decoration things on the top shelf, hence its current empty state.

The time has finally come. I can't paint my own toenails. Adam was actually super adorable and pretty excited to get to paint them for me. And he did an amazing job. Seriously. Didn't get outside the lines once!

We celebrated Father's Day early since we'll be in St. Louis next week. I made Adam his favorite breakfast, Eggs Benedict! I tried a new recipe for the Hollandaise this time and it was totally different. (FYI - Adam prefers the more old-fashioned way.) He asked for some tennis shirts, and then I also made him a binder to keep his church bulletins in.

Debbie's Book Club/longtime friends threw me a beautiful baby shower that same day. How beautiful is this chalkboard? I want it for myself!

Thank you, Cheri and Michelle!

Obligatory tummy pose.

I can't even handle this amazing quilt that Meagan made her (favorite) niece! It is so beautiful and made with so much love! And it even matches her nursery! I can't stop staring at it.

Needless to say, it was another fun week in the books! Now we just have to get through this work week and it's off to St. Louis to celebrate with Adam's family!

Weekend Fun

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

As I've mentioned a time or two, the only real craving I've had all pregnancy is for sweets. My most amazing husband woke up extra early on Friday (National Donut Day) and surprised me with a dozen Krispy Kremes before work! I told you he's the best.

We decided to be spontaneous on Friday night and headed to the Braves game at the last minute! The weather was so nice, and it was so fun hanging out just the two of us. We won't be able to make many spontaneous trips here in a couple months.

Friday Night Fireworks!

Friday also kicked off Lindsay's bachelorette weekend in New Orleans! Although I couldn't make it (for obvious reasons), I was there in koozie spirit… and I planned the whole damn thing.

We had plans on Saturday to get as much done around the house as we could - and I'd say we succeeded! We still have a bit to go with her nursery, but guess what showed up? The glider! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Slowly starting to come together!

Sheila threw me a baby shower on Sunday, attended by the wonderful Lassiter Baseball Moms! It's always so great to see everyone - and they were all so generous.

The fabulous host! I love Sheila!

A super great shot of me (thanks, mom), but I have to post this picture of Jude Man. Look how big he is!!

He also acted as my little mannequin and tried on baby girl's new tutu.

It was another great weekend making memories before home girl makes her arrival in two short months (eeeek!)
