Here's to hoping

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

Here's to hoping I can jump back on this blog train. I'm not even going to try to catch up from the last real update I did, so here is just a random collection of recent events.

Adam's first Father's Day! We are so thankful for this amazing leader of our family.

Celebrating with my dad... and his dad! (And Mitch? Get outta the picture!)

This little chick continues to make our lives and hearts so full. I mean, those little piggie tails? Can you even handle the cuteness?

Our neighbor has a beautiful garden and let us come pick from it! Really makes me want one.

Our neighbors on both sides have little girls, and it's so fun that they're finally getting to the age where we can do things together. We went to the Riverside Sprayground with Finleigh a couple weeks back. Lots of fun!

Aiden loves the water!

Too cool for school! (Please hold, I'm going to go eat her face off.)

And finally, we celebrated Kelly's birthday with Baby Chicky's first boat ride!

Happy 4th!

Let's see… Have I mentioned that my entire family frolicked through Italy together over the last week or so? If not, probably because I'm a little bitter! Mitchell is over there doing a Study Abroad/Internship thing, so Mom, Dad, Katie and Jeff headed over to visit him/have the time of their lives. Of course, I can't say much. We kind of had our own amazing trip to Italy two (two?!) years ago!

Anywho, while they were gone my aunts came in town to hang out with Papabear. We had the chance to hang out with them one night once we got back from St. Louis… and I was finally able to give Papabear his Father's Day present! Still can't believe I found this adorable little set. He LOVES it, and has brought it up every time I've seen him since. He even called me later that night to let me know the shirt fit. :)

Compared to last year, our Fourth of July was pretty low key. Of course, I was also 33 weeks pregnant this year, so any type of big party didn't exactly sound appealing anyway. I started the day with my typical breakfast of greek yogurt, berries and granola (borrrrring), and then got a picture from Debbie of some delicious cinnamon rolls she had made. Of course, Adam and I immediately headed for the closest donut shop.

We decided to try a new place up the street - Tip Top Donuts. Adam wasn't too impressed, but I was!

Red, White and Blue… of course.

Since we were out and about, we decided to stop into an Antique Mall by our house to see if we could find a mirror for baby girl's room. Check out this relaxing piece of art! Can you imagine bebe's nightmares if this was in her room?? (We actually did find a mirror - yay! - but I'll hold off on adding a picture until it's up on the wall.)

Speaking of the baby (because when are we not?), Adam finished her adorable headband holder! I love how it turned out.

And we did celebrate America on the Fourth! The Causeys invited us over for a delicious dinner and we got to see some fireworks! Of course, the only picture of us being remotely festive is this one my mom took of us holding the baby's crib bumper she got us. Ha!

More Baby Prep (Shocking!)…And Other Things

If we keep up our current pace, and our baby girl is going to be here before we know it! We actually went through all the remaining weeks, and we're busy all the way up to August from here on out. Crazy!

We had a family fun day at the tennis courts last week - as my dad and Adam were randomly selected to play each other in tennis. It was a fun game to watch, and Adam came out victorious!

I made them pose with Perrier, of course. They're basically part of the French Open!

Adam and I had been counting down to Thursday for weeks. We had tickets to the opening of Jurassic World! We bought the tickets back in April or May, and were so excited. Even with my expectations so high, I was not disappointed! Three cheers for the Raptor Gang and Chris Pratt!

Adam's a big fan of soccer when it's conveniently on. (Which means he only watches the World Cup.) Lucky for us, we're in the middle of the Women's World Cup! Doug and Aimee joined us at Elbow Room on Friday to watch the US tie Sweden (I think…).

We "tried" to get stuff done in the nursery on Saturday, but ended up just sitting in there and making Hank try on her tutu. We could not stop laughing.

Then I decided to do story time with the dogs. Look how excited they are! (Yes, that's Hank trying to escape by crawling under the crib.)

We also put up the book shelves, and I love the way they came out! I think we're going to do frames/decoration things on the top shelf, hence its current empty state.

The time has finally come. I can't paint my own toenails. Adam was actually super adorable and pretty excited to get to paint them for me. And he did an amazing job. Seriously. Didn't get outside the lines once!

We celebrated Father's Day early since we'll be in St. Louis next week. I made Adam his favorite breakfast, Eggs Benedict! I tried a new recipe for the Hollandaise this time and it was totally different. (FYI - Adam prefers the more old-fashioned way.) He asked for some tennis shirts, and then I also made him a binder to keep his church bulletins in.

Debbie's Book Club/longtime friends threw me a beautiful baby shower that same day. How beautiful is this chalkboard? I want it for myself!

Thank you, Cheri and Michelle!

Obligatory tummy pose.

I can't even handle this amazing quilt that Meagan made her (favorite) niece! It is so beautiful and made with so much love! And it even matches her nursery! I can't stop staring at it.

Needless to say, it was another fun week in the books! Now we just have to get through this work week and it's off to St. Louis to celebrate with Adam's family!

Father's Day...among other things.

If you know me, you know I have a love-hate relationship with Mexican food. I love it so much I can't stop once I've started, and then I have to be rolled out of the restaurant. I've finally come to accept the fact that I will never be able to control myself when there are chips and salsa in front of me. Period. Anyway, on Wednesday I met up with some friends at Pozole in the Highlands. $3 margs and $1 tacos? SOLD! It was a fun time catching up and, of course, I ate myself silly.

On Friday night, Adam and I attended a Pinterest Party at Alysa's. Ok - so maybe I made that phrase up, but it suits the occasion. We all brought something delicious that we found on Pinterest. Guess what? It was Mexican themed - so of course I Adam made this yummy salsa and some queso. Alysa also just rescued this little fur ball. At the time, his name was Simba, but she has since renamed him Conan. Adam decided to use him as a dumbbell - a barely 1 pound dumbbell.

Sunday was Father's Day! I am seriously the luckiest girl ever - I have the world's best daddy and father-in-law. I really lucked out.

We had a wonderful lunch at the Bakers, where we discussed our trip to ITALY next summer!! Still can't believe it's only a year away! Beyond excited.

After lunch, we headed over to my parents' house for the rest of the afternoon. My dad wanted professional pictures made for his birthday, so he should have known he was going to get a lot of the printed versions for Father's Day!

I also had this video made from a local improv group, Dad's Garage. I saw they were doing a fundraiser on Twitter, and decided to go for it. They sent me a short questionnaire and went from there. I was pretty impressed with how it turned out! You can view it here.

Love you, Daddy!

And I will leave you with this adorable picture of the two best friends in the world...

P.S. Happy First Anniversary to my beautiful sister-in-law, Meagan, and her hubs, Nathan!
